Game Overview

Furnace: Interbellum is an expansion to our 2021 Bestseller Furnace!

Furnace expands into the twenties and thirties of the twentieth century — the interwar period known as the interbellum. In this expansion, you will find new Company cards and Capitalists, new abilities, Manager tokens, variable Capital discs, a set of components for a fifth player, and new Agents for two-player and single-player games. All of this exists within beautiful industrial buildings and structures from the epoch of Art Deco, Constructivism, and Bauhaus.

Interbellum is designed for players who are already familiar with Furnace. The expansion is best played if all of its elements are added to the base game, but if you don’t feel up to it, you can get to know it piece by piece.

This expansion makes the game more interesting by adding variety and depth. The manager tokens are a great way to make the company cards more dynamic, and the new powers on company cards give you more things to think about.

Good and interesting new elements. I like the new effects, being able to improve your companies with manager tokens, and the flexibility given by the variable capital disc.

Furnace with the Interbellum expansion still delivers the essential experiences of the base game. You still get the pleasure of building an engine and running it as efficiently as possible. You will still get that cold chill of anticipation as you wait for your turn to bid, hoping that someone doesn’t put the same size chip you were planning to play on the card you really wanted to affect. And you can still put your opponents on ice by freezing them out of the card they really want.
