Mezen is a delightful puzzle of a game, sure to appeal to families and those who appreciate well-themed, strategic, yet accessible gameplay. If you love puzzly games and enjoy quality time with loved ones, Mezen is a worthy addition to your collection.

Art-wise, it looks quite a stark contrast with the red/white/black atmosphere, like something out of a White Stripes album!
It’s surprisingly thinky, and satisfying when you get it right.

It’s been a while since I opened a board game box and just went WOW!

English review by @tabletop_4world – Reading time: 4 min.

It feels like a nice puzzle to solve and it can get kind of addictive in the best possible way!
We absolutely loved the looks of it and we think that the story behind the art style is very interesting.

We love games with a colorful, striking appearance. And Mezen from @hobbyworldint definitely doesn’t dissapoint in this regard.

That said, there is a real charm and beauty to this game, and it is very relaxing to play.

Me gusto! Sobre todo la calidad de los componentes.

English review by @boardgamebahrain – Reading time: 3 min.

The gameplay is really fun and delightful, and it really makes you think about how to position your tiles.
Overall, it’s a fantastic game, especially if you enjoy abstract strategy games.
Highly recommended!

English review by @boardgames.joel – Reading time: 3 min.

We really enjoyed Mezen’s simplicity and it’s unique mechanisms make it a game we would easily table.

I think Mezen has a nice approach to the abstract field in board games. Having a goal each round keeps players engaged and the Tetris puzzle it’s quite fun to manage.

Dutch review by @themeeplegamer – Reading time: 1 min.

What makes Mezen different is that the objective for placement changes every round so it’s a constantly moving puzzle.

Enough cannot be said about the game art which is inspired by the real Mezen art style of the Russian North. It’s absolutely beautiful in the table.

If you like abstract puzzlers, you should definitely check it out!

Recently, I have been playing a lot of Mezen, a game from Arcane Wonders and Hobby World that has a unique historical setting. More importantly for today’s discussion, it has an interesting write up in the rulebook about the setting that counterbalances some issues I have with the game. (Spoiler alert: I have loved my plays of Mezen, because I do not have any game in my collection like it, if you just want the tl;dr on the game itself).

English review by @happymeeples – Reading time: 2 min.

I absolutely love how puzzly this game is. The organizing and flipping tiles gives me familiar feelings of playing Shifting Stones but with an advanced kick! The round goals remind me of Wingspan in the sense that there is a little AP the farther you are in the game. Trying to rack up as many points as you can because you can visually see what your opponent has. The artwork is unique and bold which always is a win for me! Overall, we really liked it and are happy to have this in the light game rotation!

English review by @meeplegamers – Reading time: 5 min

This is an interesting game. The puzzle of which creature to pick and how to manipulate the board is really fun for me. I like the brain teaser of when to use amulets to make larger sections and when to use them to keep some creatures where they are. Having two goal cards to give you what you need this round and what you want to try and set up for next one adds a thinky level to the game.

Englsih review by @boardgamecolors – Reading time: 6 min.

The game is nice and it plays smoothly, the variability of the goal cards and the fact that the objectives are kept face down will give a lot of unpredictability and this helps the gameplay experience.

Even if we like games with more interaction between players and with a lot of take that, we enjoyed this one and we can recommend it to the more peaceful players.

English review by @tae_eat_tea – Reading time: 2 min.

We played this a few times in a very short period of time and enjoyed each play immensely. I made the mistake of winning the first two games thereby potentially getting this game on the cull pile, so I had to make a conscious effort to lose the 3rd game by a few points so that my wife doesn’t clue in. I want to keep this game around, I really do.

English review by @weekend_board_gamer – Reading time: 2 min.

Mezen, overall was a huge surprise hit for me. The puzzle is engaging throughout the whole game and having to plan for multiple rounds at a time felt incredibly satisfying to pull off when it worked. The art is beautiful yet the game itself manages to overshadow this.
